Summary:
Yep. It's true. There are many directions for you to take in your quest for a better way of life. Which way to follow? Which trail to blaze? The road less travelled? The yellow brick road? The information highway? The long and winding road? Check out this road sign...

Life Notes from a Life Coach Every moment in our life we are at a crossroads. There are infinite possibilities for each and every step we take. Just imagine - right now there are multiple paths before you to choose from. "Your" path is simply the one you create as you make another move along it. The path is created at every step. Wow.

This very minute, you could radically alter the course of your life. You could stand up and walk out of where you are. You could run. You could pick up that phone and tell somebody - anybody - something important. Or something kind. Or you might choose to breathe deeply for two minutes with your eyes closed. I'll bet THAT would change the course of your day! You could choose amusement over frustration. You could choose trust over fear. Remember, every step is a CHOICE. Your choice. How does that grab you? Is it scary? Fantastic? Thrilling? Empowering? (by the way, your REACTION to things is also your choice. More on that in the next issue).

All of this POSSIBILITY amounts to:

Decision

Anthony Robbins, self-improvement guru, said "I believe that it's in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped". I like this. It tells me that I AM in charge of my life - that my destiny is not victim to the whim of circumstance. I'm in charge.

Here's more from Robbins' book "Awaken the Giant Within":

"If making decisions is so simple and powerful, then why don't more people follow Nike's advice and "Just Do It"? I think one of the simplest reasons is that most of us don't recognize what it even means to make a real decision. We don't realize the force of change that a congruent, committed decision creates. Part of the problem is that for so long most of us have used the term "decision" so loosely that it's come to describe something like a wish list. Instead of making decisions, we keep stating preferences. Making a true decision, unlike saying, "I'd like to quit smoking," is cutting off any other possibility. In fact, the word "decision" comes from the Latin roots de, which means "from", and caedere, which means "to cut". Making a true decision means committing to achieving a result, and then cutting yourself off from any other possibility."

On the flip side is the notion that (as we all know) NOT doing anything and NOT making any decision is also our choice. Sometimes we (unconsciously) decide to NOT decide. That's when the whims of circumstance DO take charge.

So. Are you in charge of your own destiny? Make a decision right now that will set you on a path to a better way of life.

All the best,
Sarah
