Unlock your treasure...

A simple question is the key!

Summary:
In my coaching practice, as in my life, there is one small, simple question that unlocks a treasure chest of self-knowledge, motivation, and momentum. Ask yourself...

Life Notes from a Life Coach Four little words to cut through the restlessness, ennui, vague anxiety and uncertainty that pervades our society:

1. What
2. Do
3. You
4. Want

What do you want?

In my coaching practice I use this question a lot. It comes in very handy when a client is stuck, or is bitterly complaining about his lot in life, or feels lost under a mountain of "shoulds", or when she just doesn't know what the heck to do next. "What do you want?" invariably stops them in their
tracks.

A simple question, yes. And the shocking truth is that most people I ask, don't have the answer readily available. Do you?

It usually takes some excavation to discover the answer. Like an archeological dig. The key is that it is a process of discovery. What I know for sure is that the answer is there. You have the perfect answer to that question. Trust me, you do. It's just buried under multiple layers of (to expand on the archeology analogy) sediment, junk, dusty ol' crap!

(Hint: the answer to the question "what do you want?" is your TREASURE. Very worth the dig...)

Over and over again, I see individuals light up when they discover their answer. Often they are pleasantly surprised; "This is what I want?!" Once this treasure is claimed (it is your birthright, after all), all kinds of wonderful stuff comes to pass.

Really, I've seen it, I've coached it, and yes, I've certainly experienced it. The momentum and inspiration and pure enthusiasm that is generated from the discovery and claim of the answer to this question is a joy to behold. It takes my breath away.

So, I ask you: "What do you want?" When you have the answer (and there will be no mistaking it, 'cause it'll feel great), here is my advice:
STRUT IT! Say it out loud. "I want ________________________, oh yes I do!" Sing it to yourself in the shower. Tell a friend. Heck, tell a stranger. Write it down. Talk about it. Do a little research on it. Maybe even find someone who already has it (or something like it) and interview them.

This one thing will make your life better. Guaranteed.

My wish for you is to claim your right to have what you want. To have your heart's desire. And first you must know what it is!

All the best,
Sarah
