Thoughts about Thoughts: What's the Secret?

It is really no secret

Summary:
Discover the secret about why your thoughts come to you in the manner that they come to you. Use this information to control your thoughts instead of your thoughts controlling you.

Our thoughts are the foundations of all our creations. Most spirituality information tells us that. The secret about thoughts is the law of attraction. What thoughts are you attracting? Depends on where you are putting your attention. Your spiritual growth depends on using the law of attraction to your benefit by thinking thoughts that serve you.

The point I want to make is that we draw to us that which we put our attention on. We, as human beings living in a relative universe, have devised this concept called time to divide up our lives into time lines of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, etc.

By using the time unit we call a day, we are able to analyze where we place most of our attention and thereby see the connection between that and what thoughts we draw to us because of that. Our observations tell us that we, as individuals and societies, are placing a large part of our attention on things that don't seem to serve us.

Our addiction to the television (I am generalizing here for demonstration purposes) has placed our conscious and unconscious attention on this idea that we are separate from each other, separate from our environment and separate from God. We have placed our attention on the ego and whatever it is that the ego desires at any particular moment.

That attention shifts moment to moment depending upon whatever the television is telling us to say, do or buy that will fulfill the wants and needs of the people trying to sell us the ideas and products we are supposed to have in order to be this thing called “happy.”

Hey, here's a novel concept: Why not just be happy. You don't need anything to be happy. All that is required for you to be happy is for you to be happy. Happiness is already within you. You need merely draw it forth and be it.

You don't need money to be happy. You don't need a SUV to be happy. You don't need a vacation at Disneyland to be happy. You don't need a situation comedy or a reality show to be happy. You can be happy in any given instant by just thinking to yourself, “I am happy” and then “be” that.

This is true of any emotion or condition in life. Just put your attention on it and bring it forth. If you desire to “be sad” you just put your attention on that and bring it forth. Voila, you are being sad.

We are powerful creating machines and we are creating all the time because we are thinking all the time. Thoughts are coming to us all the time because we are putting our attention on one thing or another all the time.

What we are seeing here is a correlation between what we consciously or unconsciously put our attention on and the thoughts that trigger the thinking that goes on inside our heads.

All thought is creative on some level. Every thought that goes through your head has creative power. The amount of creative power that any particular thought has is in direct proportion to how much attention you put towards that thought. Some thoughts come into our heads and leave our heads with very little attention. These thoughts create at a very low level in the overall creation of our lives, but they still have an influence on our lives because we somehow choose them through some level of interest or belief at some point in our lives.

Often we place our attention on something because somebody or something else, like the television, told us about it. The words spoken to you trigger thoughts about those words and your attention is activated or stimulated. That's how subtle it is to just receive stimuli. That's why most people go on autopilot and receive most of this input unconsciously. It is just too much to hold consciously. We are bombarded daily with tons of information that we process and evaluate to see if we want to pursue it beyond its mere informational aspect.

Other thoughts enter our heads that grab our interest and we choose to pursue them with the intention of manifesting them into our reality. Did the ego choose them or did the sacred self choose them? Which is more dominant in your life? Do you make your choices by unconsciously accepting the words of others, or what the television tells you, or do you go within yourself to make the conscious private decisions that determine who you are?
