The Seeds I Sow

By Honoring My Reason For Being

Summary:
When I was a little girl, I remember my mother oftentime musing how "you reap what you sow" Being a child, I never quite understood the meaning to that reference in regards to what was usually some unspeakable act/occurrence. As an adult, I would have to answer for my own actions...

I've since come to know that the act of sowing seeds can be used to do a good deed, without expecting to be rewarded...It is in my mind, simply a condition of my existence as a person of compassion and humility. Although, early on in my adulthood, I gave never a thought to a simple act of kindness. It pains me to say, that I was somewhat selfish in instances where it was all about me, until I came to realize the truth of my mother's words."you reap what you sow" In all reality, I wasn't reaping any goodness and mercy because of my basic human acts of selfish behaviours.

Sowing of seeds originates from a biblical/spiritual reference that in laymen terms mean to give back. It's giving back to someone less fortunate, whether in words, deeds, or, instances of monetary compensation.

I live a life steeped in the knowledge that my giving back doesn't require me to bask in accolades of praise, sentiments of gratitude, or,acts of martyrdom.

I am simply learning to live my life purpose for being. It is what makes us human and humane. There's a choice in how we sow our seeds. The truth remains, "We reap what we sow"

What seeds are you sowing?
