Summary:
When God Said: "Suffer little children to come unto me", he didn't specify in what instance that was to be... I believe as adults, we were placed by God to serve in protection of our young...

I came home from vacation a few weeks ago...I heard a young voice cry out in the middle of the night... the stern voice of a man scream, "shut up!"

As I lay cringed in my bed, listening to the quiet whimpers of a helpless child's pains, the repetitive prayers to God "Please don't let this man abuse this child", I thought of the many children who had lost their lives to senseless violence at the hands of an adult; most often, the ones these innocents have looked to for love, comfort, and protection: Their parent. I often say how I was not put here to judge others, that according to scripture, 'Let him who is without sin, cast the first stone." Oh, but, when I hear a child cry, or, see an abusive adult handle a cild with untold force, the tears of helplessness reign and I can't find comfort from this pain I seek.

I speak out in the only way I know to reach mothers of innocent children to say, mothers tend to your child...Know where they are at all times, do not leave them unprotected...Beware of men bearing gifts...find out if he's truly not a wolf in sheep clothing...protect your young.

The vacation I returned from was filled with the joys and laughter of my four little granddaughters as they bonded with their parents, grandparents, delighted in water parks, riding go carts, shouting about the sheer 'awesomeness' of being healthy, happy, loved!

I was happy on this particular vacation. I felt all was right with the world. When I returned to my home, lay down for a peaceful sleep, only to be awakened in the middle of the night by the piercing screams of a child in pain, I felt the tears of sadness as I prayed to God...

"God, please don't let that man abuse his child." I didn't know the family, but, I knew that the mother worked nights, while the apparent father kept 2 lovely little girls. I pray that what I'd heard was merely a harried father attempting to put a child down for a good night's sleep...I wonder why as I write those words, I'm finding this scenerio so hard to believe...

It was God who said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me."
