The Babyboomer Upsurge

Why We Remain Silent No More

Summary:
Chances are that if you were born between the year 1946 and 1964, then, you are a babyboomer...I say, life has never been so sweet...

There is something about women entering their second phase of life that feels so liberating and freeing. In speaking to several women of a certain age, about aging, I'm hearing time and again, the renewed sense of freedom to speak their mind and without having to worry about stepping on someone's toes, or, apologizing for how one feels on certain issues.

Women speaking out against the war in Iraq comes to mind when I think of bravery in speech and deeds. As many of these women lost their child in battle, at home, they were losing the support of their husbands and country...

Brave women who stood firm in their beliefs, irregardless of the physicial and emotional consquence of their struggle. I have learned on my own journey of self-discovery that there will be others who will oppose your effort to freedoms afforded all humanity.

Because of my compassion for truth seeking, I have found my words to be twisted by some others personal and poisonious pen... Many scribes will use the pen and the strength of the written word for vengenance; to vent their ugly ways, but, whenever this occurs, I have the forethought to think upon the very beautiful words of Guy Finley; "Your opinion of me is none of my business." It pleases me to see that more and more babyboomer women are heeding this message.

No one have to be nasty to get their point across, after all, this is America, the lands of Democracy, yet, it is human nature to want to offend. I will continue to write from a place of compassion and truth. I will continute to praise all women who dare to speak up and say no more of this, or, that.

It is what makes the beauty of this journey into midlife and beyond, so awesome for women of today and tomorrow. It is our time to speak and be heard. We must, for the sake of our children and generations to come.

It pleases me to see that babyboomer women are becoming a voice that refuses to tread lightly upon these shores, come hell, or, high waters...
