Interview With Sis Mary Dread pt 2 of 3the Sistren of one of the Best Known Webs, RastaItesA regular column by Kaya I Isesajah, Aug 13, 2005
KI. There are so many views, and ideas of INI of Rastafari should sight His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, in terms of divinity, would you care to comment? SMD. If the I wants to know how I see HIM, then I sight HIM as God Almighty without apology, Christ in His Kingly Character. KI. Can Rastafari see ‘Religious Tolerance’, since Selassie taught INI to never question a next mans faith? SMD. Yes I can see this. It is essential. His Majesty taught us that spirituality is the path to enlightenmant, religion is the set of rules that ones apply to live a spiritual life. KI. Can Rastafari accept the idea that there are ones who sight up Yahshua as their Saviour, in the I opinion? What is the difference between the ‘blue eyed demon’ depiction of Yahshua, and who is Yahshua versus ‘Jesus’? SMD. Yes, as far as I know all Ras Tafari accept Iyesu as their saviour. This is what His Majesty taught us. The difference is that the blue eyed Jesus is a false image. Iyesu the Christ was a brown skinned, brown eyed African man. The only blue eyed people in those times lived in Northern Europe. He was also a Nazarite and as such would have carried dreadlocks. The word Nazarite is commonly mistranslated Nazarene. KI. Are Rastafari sisters able to wear pants in the I’s view? What about wrapping her locks? SMD. Outward appearance is unimportant. Ones can wear long skirt and wrap their hair and still not live up to the fullness. As long as one dresses modestly I do not see a problem. Paul said that a woman should cover her and in the very next verse he says that a man should uncover his hair. If ones are saying that a sistren should cover her hair, then why are the bredrens covering theirs? KI. For those who do not follow the Nazarite laws, in your opinion will they see Zion? SMD. This depends on what ones sees as Zion. Zion was originally a word for Jerusalem. If ones see Ethiopia as Zion then the ones who make the effort to reach will see it regardless of laws. If ones see Zion as a place ones reaches when one passes from this Earth then only Jah knows who will reach. KI. In your opinion, what happens to ones when they are no longer present on this plane? SMD. In my humble opinion, ones return here to live again until ones reach a state of enlightenmant or a godlike state. KI. Do you feel that Selassie I is still physically alive on the physical plane of this earth? If not, do you acknowledge his funeral which was held in Ithiopia?
SMD. Selassie I didn’t die but passed from I sight as did Moses, Elijah & Iyesu. I do not acknowledge the funeral as no one has ever found a body. He is not dead so there is no body. The body they buried was of a large man 6 feet tall. Unless one can grow after death, then it is obvious that this body does not belong to HIM. KI. How does the I explain the scriptures recording the place of birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem? How does the I reconcile the idea that Selassie I is Christ, does the I acknowledge Reincarnation? SMD. Iyesu the Christ was born in Bethlehem according to the scripture. Yes I do acknowledge reincarnation. KI. How important is the bible to the I? SMD. Of the utmost importance, still one should also read the Apocrypha, and other books that were left out of the Bible by the Church. Also it is important to study Istory to realize the correct interpretation of the scriptures. The way people thought in Incient times is totally different than the way I&I think today. You have only to compare the difference in views over the last 50 years to realize that 2000 years ago people had a totally different outlook on life. Also the difference between cultures that exists, even today, show that one must truly allow the Almighty to speak to the I through this great book and not just accept it word for word. His Majesty teaches us that in the Bible I&I will find truth for I&I selves. KI. Who are the True Christians?Who are Babylonian Christians? SMD. Who am I to judge? KI. Does the Rastafari movement have to acknowledge any ‘Black’ movement which claims to support Black Inity, or does for example those who align them selfs with Egyptian gods, need to itinue their works in supporting black people but stop worshipping False gods? SMD. The Almighty reveals to each in a different way. Who am I to judge? KI. Will everyone escape the wrath of Jah who is walking in the path of Rastafari? SMD. None are without sin, the salvation of Christ is the only way to escape the wrath of Jah. Many are called and few are chosen, only Jah know who those few will be. KI. Is man able to be without sin? Has there or is there ever been a man who was without sin? SMD. None are without sin. KI. Does the I feel that the wages of sin is death? SMD. The I have left off half the statement…. The wages of sin is death, still the gift of God is Iternal life, through Iyesu the Christ our Lord. KI. Since Rastafari is a upliftment of Black people, there has been quite a lot of talk about other nationalities especially those of European decent, becoming Rastafari. What are your thoughts? SMD. Rastafari is an upliftment of all people. It is essentially a Black movemant and those of other races who take up the livity must be prepared to help in the fight to uplift the Black peoples of the world.
