Browsing the Site Browsing the Site

There are a number of ways to get around the Alumbo! site. The easiest is to simply click on links to navigate to areas that interest you. We call this browsing. Browsing is useful if you aren't looking for anything in particular, but just want to explore. You can browse by community, or by section, or both.

To locate a community of interest to you, click on the Directory tab near the top of the page. Click on a community name to view that community's page in the Directory. This page includes a description the community, explains what information you can expect to find there, and includes a link to the Community Leader's welcome message. The page also highlights recent articles, products, resources and discussions that have been added to the community.

From the Directory page, you can navigate deeper to a subcommunity, or browse "sideways" to explore the other pages for that same community. Each community has its own page in the Magazine, Shopping, Resources and Discussion sections of the site. Simply click on the tab at the top of the page to move between sections. For example, if you are viewing the Magazine page for the Dream Analysis community, click the Resource tab to bring you to the Resource page for that same community.

To help you find your bearings, every page on the Alumbo! site includes a navigation line that begins with "You are here:" near the top of the page. This line shows you where you are within the site, and helps you navigate to a higher-level page. If you get lost, you can quickly retrace your footsteps. In addition, at the bottom of every page we include a set of text links for some of the more popular pages. This is particularly useful for visitors who do not have a graphics-enabled browser.
