Feelings of hunger are triggered by hunger and readies the stomach to ingest food.
 

Hunger causes feelings of hunger and prepares the stomach to accept food. You must be able to recognize if your stomach is hungry, sometimes you may confuse the feeling of hunger for thirst. Take a glass of warm water next time you are hungry. But you don't think you should be, you have just eaten earlier. Taking in water fifteen minutes before you eat can also lead to eating less. Hunger makes you distressed if it is not properly managed. It could result in a mild form of binge eating, as hunger builds up eagerness for food. This could lead to a cycle of overeating.


Here are pointers to aid you control hunger and avoid the chance of eating compulsively.


Quantify and manage hunger.

Hunger has different intensities. Every time you feel hungry, gauge the severity of your hunger; 1 as a little hungry and 5 as very hungry. Put off hunger if you can. You defeat the hunger, and eating is postponed. Do you feel OK? Delight in your success!

Eat mini meals.

Hunger braces the stomach for food. Eat small portions, and appreciate the food better. This method of eating will give you a burst of energy greater than a high from coffee.

Resolve on how much to eat.

Eat predetermined quantities, and resolve how much is enough. Chew your food properly. Relax and take it slowly. Luxuriate and indulge on each bite. Relish each moment as if it was the last meal.

End the meal with a drink.

Herbal tea is soothing, it is a wonderful drink after a meal and will help you move out of the habit of overeating. This creates in the stomach the feeling of pleasure. You feel the satisfaction now? Be pleased you are contented.

When you feel hungry again, face it and be at peace. Hunger can cause the feeling of defeat. Brush it aside. Hunger causes uncomfortable feelings. Forget it. You can succeed!
