Summary:
You need a method to overcome compulsive behavior, and firmness to succeed. You have to get pumped up, determined, and focused. Set realistic goals.

You will not make good in a basketball game by wandering aimlessly. Opponents would merely take away the ball from you. To be a successful basketball player, rigorous training is needed. It is difficult, but it is the resolution to be a high achiever in sports.

You need a plan to overcome compulsive behavior, and being determined to reach that goal. You have to be encouraged, determined, and focused. Set realistic goals.

Your opponents should not weaken your resolve to overcome compulsion. Be wary of temptation. Be resolved to stay focused. Do not allow temptations to drift into your subconscious be steadfast and chase them out, these will cripple your resolve. When you are tempted, be steadfast. When you are tempted, be on the alert, admit it but drive it away. Be stubborn, even when friends are tempting you, Refuse to eat junk food and you will conquer. Praise yourself when you succeed.

It's a stronger conviction to refuse that you are helpless. Stubbornly refusing to do something has power. Decisions become firm when we refuse adamantly.

Being intent is to be fixed on something Be prepared for the competition. Be fixed on what you intend to achieve. Do not be distracted. Just as an archer aims for the bull's eye, he is intent to hit the target. Once he has fired his arrow, he relaxes and gets ready to be focused again. The focus is exhausting. Stay focused. You can do it. Set the goal and become totally fixed on it everyday, especially just before you eat or face temptation. When it is done, you can relax till the next target comes up. The mind can be persistent, and you will often find that you have failed, heedless until it's too late. This occurs to everyone. It can give you a boost of resolve to be on guard.

Firm decisions end mental wars. Weak decisions are meaningless. There will be times you will concede and feel you failed. Be in control. If you have made the decision to consume a bowl of food per meal, decide to feel hungry before eating. You have made a decision! "I am not getting pushed around any more. Food will not control me. I am steadfast. My decision is final. I am not giving in." The mental war ends.

You are firm to be successful. Daily you review the reasons as to why you have made these decisions. As soon as you slacken in your decision, the war begins. Do not buckle, you will succeed.

Compulsion is a vicious cycle. Pain comes in, emotions stir to a storm: fear, insecurity, anxiety, emptiness and deprivation. These emotional upheavals will not exist if you are firm.
