Can a Bunk Bed Help A Kid Want to Say Goodnight?Kids never want to go to bed. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was something to help make that transition a little easier? Bunk beds can make getting ready for sleeping a fun time for kids and an easier time for parents.
No child welcomes that time of the evening when parents say “time for bed.” For many, the struggle is a loud, drawn-out, painful experience that both child and parent would much rather avoid. It would surely help ease the transition for everyone involved if the place the kids were headed was their own little corner of the world, where all their favorite treasures awaited. Believe it or not, even something as simple as a bunk bed can do that! For a child, bedtime is the end – end of a day, end of playtime, end of snacking, end of anything interesting or fun. They don’t see resting as necessary or useful, let alone entertaining. Anything you can do to help keep it a pleasant time is worth the effort. Imagine a piece of furniture that can play a part in making this happen! Some bunk beds, and a couple of spare sheets and pillows, can make this time of the day just a transition, instead of an end! With some imagination, some fabric paints, clothespins and maybe a small flashlight, your child’s bedtime can become a visit to his favorite hideout. Every kid who has ever hung a blanket over some up-ended chairs or stacked some cardboard boxes knows how to build a fort out of just about anything. How perfect to have a kid-sized place you can convert to your own treehouse-type hideout? Just so happens it’s built for sleeping!
This small space can be a dungeon in a castle, a tree fort, a tent in the woods – anyplace your child would like to rest (except his own bed). Just the way kids have a knack for wanting what they cannot or should not have, they will rest anywhere except their bed. Why not make their bed into somewhere they’d like to be? If you have two children sharing a room with bunk beds, each bed can be the child’s own space. Choose individual sheets, throw pillows, etc., to let their personalities shine through, even in the same room. For space they can be stacked or lofted, and when the time comes for separate rooms, some types of bunks can stand on their own. With bunk beds, you can have the versatility to do that. For many smaller families, their children’s room becomes a continual guest room, where a child’s cousins and school friends come to keep them company. Bunk beds provide a ready place for your guest(s) without the need for a guest room. (Especially when you know they’ll end up together anyway!)
