Summary:
People can often find it extremely tricky to memorize the large amount of study material required to pass an exam. And even those who can easily memorize new information often find it difficult or impossible to recollect that information during an exam. It has been found that there are many little tricks that one can use to improve the ability to focus concentration, absorb, and then recall that information. This article explores many of those options.

If you are a student who is endeavoring to bring up your grades, there are a list of shortcuts that can help you to boost your capacity to sharpen your concentration, absorb the data that you study, and recall it during an exam without being subjected to mental blocks or a test phobia. Here are the best ways that I know to establish good learning habits:

(1) Set aside an environment for study and study only in that place! Establish a peaceful location that will make possible a focusing of attention without any distractions. Some usual examples would be a library, a vacant classroom, or your bedroom. You want to generate the routine of studying when you are in this special place. So it's best to not use your special place for other activities like daydreaming, socializing, or eating, etc.

BE SURE YOUR SPECIAL PLACE HAS:

(a) A comfy chair, but not too comfy

(b) Your desk

(c) Excellent illumination

(d) Ventilation

BE SURE YOUR SPECIAL PLACE DOES NOT HAVE:

(a) Views that will distract you

(b) A telephone

(c) Distracting music

(d) A large screen TV

(e) Another person who talks all the time

(f) A refrigerator filled with sweets

(2) Break up your homework into small, short-range components.

(a) Set up small specific projects like, "I am going to study my English from 2 PM to 3 PM. Otherwise you will set yourself up to not succeed.

(b) Set a accessible homework goal for the quantity of time you are able to allocate. For example: finish reading chapter six in my English text book, or complete a draft of my English paper, etc. Set your goal when you you are ready to study but before you actually begin to study. Set realistic goals. You may possibly do more than reach your goal, but set a realistic goal even if it seems far too easy.

(3) Test Anxiety & Phobias

(a) Some people mostly experience physical symptoms, like faintness, nausea, or feeling hot or cold, etc.

(b) Other people experience mostly emotional symptoms, like feeling irritable, crying, or getting frustrated quickly.

(c) The main trouble with anxiety is that it can trigger one to have a memory block. Or it could trigger thoughts that are racing out of control.

(d) Although you may experience some level of anxiety when taking exams, you can learn to diminish that anxiety, or even completely eliminate it!

(e) Anxiousness and the resultant stress are as a rule the main causes of a lack of ability to focus your concentration. Stress can also cause a mental block when one tries to recall information.

(f) Hypnosis CD's can be utilized to relax your mind and focus your concentration. As your mind calms down, your ability to stay focused will increase. Similarly, a calm mind enhances your ability to retain information, and recall it when it is needed.

(g) NLP CD's can be used to program your mind for the positive expectation of peace and the ability to recall information during an exam. This is effective at reducing or eliminating test anxiety.

(h) There are a number of NLP methods that can quickly get rid of a test phobia!

Alan B. Densky, CH has specialized in the practice of hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming since 1978. He offers self-hypnosis CD's for memory and recall enhancement.
