Summary:
Thanks to television, radio, and the Internet, we are all afflicted with a barrage of way too much information. And on account of the anxiety caused by the hectic lives we lead, our facility to center our attention, soak up information, and recollect it later when needed has been shattered. This piece explores natural methods that can be utilized to remedy the situation.

I would like you to consider this for a minute. As you sit there and read this article, information is entering your brain through your sense of sight. But you are also hearing various sounds, feeling physical feelings like the pressure of the chair touching your butt and back, the feeling of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also in receipt of data by way of your nose in the form of smells. And of course, you're in receipt of information in the form of the mixture of tastes on your lips.

And think about the emotional sensations that you are presently experiencing? That is also information that you're presently processing. We live in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost no matter what you might want to know is only a few mouse clicks away.

I recently read a piece that said that even in a serene and peaceful environment, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that is occurring sixty seconds out of each minute, and sixty minutes out of each hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.

And happens to be a big part of the crisis. We are all being tormented by "information overload." And that makes it very difficult to remember all of the information that we want to memorize or need to remember.

Very often, as we are reading, we find that our eyes have been traversing the sentences on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we become aware of the fact that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious remembrance of what we have just read. That is because our mind has been somewhere else mulling over a problem, or working out a scheme.

Today it's common to hear even young people utter things like, "I'm having a senior moment." No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the labor, or a retired person, you know what I'm talking about. In our hectic world it is all too often quite difficult to focus your concentration.

SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING IS YOUR PROBLEM?

A. Your mind begins to roam as you study or read, and then gradually you appreciate that you don't have the slightest idea what you've been reading.

B. When you are in a social environment and new acquaintances are introduced to you, you find that you forget their names almost as rapidly as you hear them.

C. You remember that you have a task to do in another room; but as soon as you start walking in the direction of the other room you totally forget what that task is.

D. You are able to stay focused and take in new information. But when you take an exam, "Test Anxiety" overcomes you and creates a mental block, and you aren't able to remember the answers to the questions on the examination that you in reality know.

The largest cause of a person's lack of ability to focus their concentration is that people are suffering from too much stress. And the largest cause of a mental block to recall is also stress. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.

Today, hypnosis and memory enhancement has become a popular topic. That is to some extent because hypnotherapy is an excellent tool for triggering a relaxed state. As a matter of fact, the very essence of hypnosis is relaxation. And as the mind becomes peaceful, the ability to keep the mind focused increases. Similarly, a peaceful mind enhances the aptitude to retain information, and remember it when it is needed.

Hypnotic memory enhancement is a fantastic modality for eliminating test anxiety. There are several hypnotic methods that can be used to program a person with the positive expectancy of relaxation, confidence, and achievement while taking examinations.

Students can take a course on how to apply hypnotherapy simply and affordably in the privacy of their own home by purchasing hypnotic CD's. You can locate additional information on hypnosis to enhance memory and recall in the Hypnosis Article Repository located on my website.
